2-Day Trekking Itinerary
Day 1: Journey from Nairobi to Mount Suswa – Crater Hike & Sunset Views
Begin your adventure with a scenic drive from Nairobi, passing through the dramatic escarpments of the Rift Valley. Upon arrival at Mt. Suswa Conservancy, set up camp and prepare for your afternoon hike to the crater rim. The views from the top are breathtaking—sweeping panoramas of the inner and outer craters, and on a clear day, distant glimpses of Mount Longonot and even Nairobi city.

As the sun begins to set, take in the glowing landscape and capture the rich colors of the valley below. End the day around a campfire, under a sky filled with stars.

Day 2: Lava Caves, Wildlife, and Maasai Encounter
Rise early to explore Mt. Suswa’s legendary lava tube caves, many of which are still used by local Maasai communities. Some tunnels are large enough to walk through, while others are home to bats and offer eerie, otherworldly photo opportunities.

Later in the day, take a nature walk across the plains, where you may spot rock hyraxes, antelope, or even hyenas. Your guide will also introduce you to a nearby Maasai homestead, where you’ll learn about the traditional ways of life, livestock practices, and the unique relationship the Maasai have with this volcanic land.
